The function of the labia minora (small lips) is to prevent the vagina from drying, protect the vagina, and ensure regular urine flow. Therefore, its length should be no less than 1 cm. In the literature, it is reported that the length of the labia should be between 7 mm and 5 cm. Anything above 5 cm is considered hypertrophic or excessively long. Enlargement can occur on one side or both sides. Irregularities in the labia can cause painful sexual intercourse and discomfort during sports or daily activities. In a study, 83% of women reported dissatisfaction due to aesthetics, 64% due to discomfort during clothing, and 43% due to painful sexual intercourse.<\/p>\n

Various surgical procedures are used for labiaplasty. The labia contribute to erotic sensation and pleasure during sexual arousal. After the surgery, there may be a loss of sensation and a decrease in sexual pleasure. Painful sexual intercourse can occur due to scar formation resulting from poor wound healing.<\/p>\n

Vaginoplasty<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vaginoplasty (vaginal tightening surgery) is a procedure that tightens and gathers the vagina. Studies have shown a decrease in sexual pleasure when the vagina is dilated (most commonly postpartum). The procedure involves removing excess vaginal tissue and tightening the soft tissue and muscles surrounding the vagina. Sometimes, labiaplasty, the reduction or correction of the external labia, is performed simultaneously. This surgery is often sought by women who have given birth. Mild vaginal discharge may occur for 1-2 weeks after the surgery. Sexual intercourse can resume after 6 weeks under the doctor’s supervision. The procedure is not effective for postpartum women who wish to have children.<\/p>\n

Perinoplasty<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perinoplasty involves repairing the entrance of the vagina and levator ani muscle. By elevating the perineum and repairing the levator ani muscle in this area, sexual function improves. Potential side effects include superficial pain, perineal discomfort, and vaginal tightness.[\/vc_column_text]
